So I guess I want to head into a path of illustration and children's books seems like a good way to start. I want to spend some more time studying before I dive in but I decided to experiment with a style that suits both my skill set, and one that would suit children's books. Also one that I could do in a fairly short time, because my usual style can take several hours, especially with procrastinating!

Sky Houses Postcard Design

Took pictures of my little sculpture works and edited on Photoshop.  The Hot air balloons are painted light bulbs and the paper houses sit on tennis balls that are spray painted. Great idea for a fun craft project, tell your kids and your friends!

Cloud Village 2

A project I am working on for class. I plan on having them suspended with some sort of invisible wire or thread to create the illusion of floating.

The paper houses sit on spray painted tennis balls, the trees are sticks with painted wooly pom poms stuck on them, the clouds are wool filter that is used for fish tanks, and the hot air balloons are painted light bulbs. Great and fun craft idea, have fun with your kids and friends! but be careful if you use super glue and spray paint like I did, use it in well ventilated areas and try to avoid contact with your body.

Time Lapse

This is a drawing I did on Photoshop for class. It was inspired by a quote by Picasso, ''Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.''

Cloud Village

Creating surreal worlds is something I have always enjoyed. These worlds often inspire creativity and imagination, and act as an escape for a lot of people. I presented every day objects and imagery in a way that a lot of people wouldn’t think of, and I think that appeals to a lot of people. They recognize every detail of the artwork as found objects that are subconsciously used in daily life, but the unusual way they are used together is something that intrigues the mind.

I worked with a lot different textures which allowed me to create interesting tone by painting with a colourful palette of colours. These bright colours and gradients compliment each other and stand out. They bring out the child-like playfulness of an adult.

Interpretation is open to those who like to look for deeper meanings. For me, there is no personal meaning. The artwork is supposed to represent a world that can be explored and expanded by others. Someones interpretation of this piece is something that is shared to create and build new ideas.
